American Technology Corporation's patented NeoPlanar®
technology is a thin film magnetic transducer (built as thin as 3/16"
or less), that uses an innovative, proprietary high-tech polymer diaphragm
structure to make the finest signal conversion technology more affordable,
convenient, efficient, and durable. By using newly available materials,
American Technology Corporation has made planar drivers:
• |
More durable and reliable than alternative technologies |
• |
Thinner and lighter than any planar or non-planar design types |
• |
With wider, more extended frequency response than any other speaker technology |
As a result, NeoPlanar has superior sound quality,
higher sensitivity, lower wattage power amplifier requirements, and greater
power handling capabilities for higher sound pressure levels. Our careful
design and unique assembly technology replaces the traditional speaker
cone with an almost weightless thin-film diaphragm driven by the force
of high energy magnetic's for less distortion and higher dynamic range
than other planar drivers of a similar size. This enables listeners to
enjoy the clean, airy, transparent sound that is inherently natural and
musically correct.
NeoPlanar has a single-ended magnetic system designed
with the help of Finite Element Analysis software to achieve optimum
efficiency vs. cost performance. It uses the very newest grades of Neodymium
- the magnet material with the highest magnetic energy available in the
world today. The extremely lightweight polymer diaphragm with etched
planar aluminum conductor is suspended in the magnetic field and uniformly
driven by electromagnetic force providing accurate reproduction of the
input signal. And there are no heavy voice coils, spiders, glue joints,
paper cones, or surrounds, preventing the technology from exhibiting
the break-up resonance, phase incoherency or signal smearing distortions
and bandwidth limitations commonly found in conventional drivers. Additionally,
the purely resistive impedance of NeoPlanar makes it a very easy load
for the amplifier, while the magnet system is inherently shielded as
required for safe implementation in multimedia and AV systems. NeoPlanar
also meets the extended high frequency output demands of the new Super
Audio compact discs by performing beyond 50 kHz in bandwidth.
NeoPlanar offers:
• |
Flat, thin form factor |
• |
Clean, airy, transparent sound which is inherently natural and musically correct |
• |
Purely resistive amplifier load |
• |
Very high power handling capacity |
• |
No cone-type break-up resonances |
• |
Superior phase coherency |
• |
Reduced distortion |
